Principal's Message

May 2012

Dear Paradise Valley Families,

As we finish the last few weeks of STAR testing, it is clear that the children are sensing that the end of their school year isn’t far off. They worked very hard to do their best and in a few short weeks they will be saying goodbye to their teachers and their familiar surroundings. You can almost feel the walls breathe a sigh of relief that testing is over for some and almost over for the rest.

We still have more to learn and more to do before we finish up our year, however. Sixth graders will be off to Science Camp on the 14th to put their textbook knowledge and research into practice. 1st and 2nd graders are preparing for their Spring performances. The Kinders will have their BBQ on the 6th of June and all students will be doing one last assessment of their reading levels. You can help these last few weeks be productive by reminding your child that homework is still important and that their homework reading time is still going to help them be
better readers. While we are on that topic, please start the search for all the lost library books that have found their way under beds and onto bookshelves. As you are doing your spring cleaning, keep an eye out for runaway books!

Thanks to all of you for your support during STAR testing. Your children have come to school looking rested and prepared. Thanks too, to the Home and School Association for the treats they provided for the classes who were testing. These are very busy days for everyone and we are grateful for the many hours that you give us.

Hope to see you May 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for this year’s Open House.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Your Principal,
Phil Duncan

Mr. Duncan
